Jewish Month of Elul

Jewish Month of Elul

This is a time we are all desiring to make sense of the narrow places we have passed through before we enter the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, at the end of Elul (September 21st this year). Elul began a 40-day season of returning or turning back to God known as Teshuvah. The scripture is clear that if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged.

Here are a few questions Heaven is asking to turn us back to God before the New YEAR. Do we realize how much control and certainty we need to feel comfortable? Are our actions declaring our dependence on God and others or our independence? Have we been

asking the Lord for more or to change us but we don’t want our routines or life focus to change? Are we taking our Sabbath rest and trusting God or trusting in our own ability to work harder? Is the love of Christ controlling us more and more?

Our identity for the next season is being formed so watch your dreams for instruction. Our weakness will be our strength as we trust God to bring us in to the New Year.
