Jewish Month of Cheshvan
At sundown October 20th, we entered the 8th month of Cheshvan on the religious calendar. Keep in mind that the Jews operate on two calendars, so on the civil calendar it is the second month. (Genesis 7:11) Hebrew tradition says the great flood began on the 17th of Cheshvan and ended one year later on the 27th of Cheshvan.
If the door on the ark our faith in Him has built is closing, we want to be careful to not get drawn out into any old works or trouble by those passing by because a door on the past is closing and a door to our future is opening. This is not a time to get distracted by our options but instead to stay focused on our purpose to be fruitful and multiply. Let your dreams this month help you see the rainbow of promise and revelation about the door that is opening ahead.
Manasseh is the tribe associated with this month. He was Joseph’s firstborn and his name means “cause to forget.” Just like Joseph there has been an umbrella of trauma over God’s people from the last season. However, the Lord is jerking us out from under it with His breath, but we must choose to forgive, hold no grudges, and realize we were sent ahead to preserve life. Dream, feel the rain again without fear!
